Appear the most used apps list at the top of the app drawer. Disable it if you don’t want to show apps list at top of your app drawer.

Just long press app and move it to home screen. It’s so easy.
I have Android Pie and don’t see “add icon to home screen” on my LG G8. It is not in Google Play settings either.
In the LG G8, you need to open the app drawer and long-press the app and move it to the home screen.
