1st way: Hide app icon from home screen Android Lollipop
Step 1: Tap and hold the icon of any app from your android device home screen want to hide icon
You can see the above screen on your android lollipop device
Step 2: Drag the app icon to Remove button
Now hide all unnecessary app icons from your android phone or tablet home screen.
2nd way: Hide new app icon from home screen android device
Step 1: Open Google play store app on your android lollipop device
Step 2: Tap on three horizontal line from top left side corner
You can see the above screen on your android device.
Step 3: Tap on Settings
In the general section, you can see the checkbox of Add icon to home screen. By default it checked so when you install new android apps on your device, create a shortcut of this app icon to home screen.
Step 4: Uncheck the checkbox of Add icon to home screen
