How To Get A Dark Theme On Android Oreo 8.0

This tutorial explains installing a dark theme on Android Oreo 8.0 without root. There are several options to set wallpaper on Oreo, but you can’t see a dark theme option. You can set the Android 8.0 dark mode/theme using Substratum and Andromeda. With this help, you can easily customize the theme on Android Oreo without rooting your device. Google Pixel and Nexus users are getting official OTA updates of Android Ore 8.0. Android Oreo has added tremendous features, including PIP mode, Notification dots, Android instant apps, background process limit, Auto-fill, etc.

Install dark theme on android Oreo without root

First, download and install the substratum theme and Andromeda add-on on your Oreo device. Let’s see how to set up Andromeda and install the substratum theme on the Android Oreo device.

Download Andromeda add-ons for the substratum theme from the Google Play Store.

Download the Substratum theme engine on your Android Oreo device.

Step 1: Go to Settings > Developer options > Debugging > Enable USB debugging

If there is a hidden developer option in your Oreo, enable developer mode in Oreo using the below.

Settings > System > About phone > Tap build number 7 times.

Now enable developer mode on your device.

Step 2: Launch Andromeda apps on your device. By default, you are disconnected from the connection status.

Step 3: Connect your Oreo device to your PC via USB cable

After connecting your device to the PC, check the settings below.

Windows PC:

First of all, open the start_andromeda.bat file. It will ask for grant administrator rights and see the command prompt. After pressing enter, you will see many ADB commands are running.  These commands are set up in the Andromeda add-on, so use your desktop PC independently.

Mac:

Double-click on “AndromedaClient.app”. It will ask you to select the disk image of the mounted Andromeda client. Tap continues and selects Andromeda from the list of options. Now click on Done.

Step 4: After completing the process with the Andromeda client on your desktop PC, see the substratum application open up on your device

To verify it, open the Andromeda app, and the connection status shows connected.

Step 5: Now install Andromeda on your Oreo and desktop PC.

Now download the below-given theme on your Oreo device:

Download [Substratum] Sai’s Android Oreo Black theme and install it to set the dark theme on our device.

Download [Substratum] Sai’s Fresh theme and install it on your Oreo device to set a dark theme in settings and the System UI tuner.

How to Install a Dark Theme on Android Oreo 8.0

Step 1: Open the Substratum app and tap Sai’s Android O Black theme.

Step 2: Tap Select to toggle all overlays.

Here, you will customize the colour by expanding the drop-down menu under the Android system and selecting the colour you set.

Step 3: Tap the paint roller icon and select Build & Enable.

Now, complete the installation process and restart your Android Oreo 8.0 device. Now, enjoy dark theme mode in Android Oreo without rooting your device. Also, install the black themes on messages, Twitter, and other apps.

Step 3: Tap Advanced.

Step 4: Tap the Device theme.

Step 5: Choose Dark.
