Here’s how to hard reset Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro using hardware buttons. You need to enter your Pixel into recovery mode to hard reset it. This process deletes all data from your device, including your Google account, third-party apps, system app & settings, etc. Ensure to back up the data performing this action. Your Pixel device reset to factory default settings.

You must hard reset your Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 if your device won’t power on, black screen of death, the Pixel is stuck on the Google logo, frozen phone, forgot your Password/PIN/Pattern lock, touchscreen is not responding, and other issues.

How to Hard Reset Your Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro using Hardware Keys

Step 1. Make sure to turn off the Pixel device. Tap and hold the Power & volume down keys at the same time until the screen turns on. The Start menu appears on the screen.

Step 2. Press the Volume Down until Recovery mode appears. Press the Power button once to enter the recovery menu.

Step 3. There is No command with the Android robot exclamation mark icon on the Pixel screen.

Step 4. Touch & hold the power key & press the volume up button once to enter your Google Pixel into recovery mode.

Step 5. Press the Volume Down key until Wipe data/factory reset is selected & press your Pixel’s power button to the following process. 

By default, cancel is selected.

Step 6: Press the Volume Down button once to highlight Factory data reset.

Step 7: Press the Power button to wipe data on your Pixel phone. 

After the wiping data process, the Reboot system now is highlighted.

Step 8: Press the Power key to reboot your Google Pixel 8 series.

How to Force Restart Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

Tap and hold the power and volume up buttons for 25-30 seconds, and your Pixel restart automatically. That’s called force restart or force reboot.
