You can prevent auto-backup of an android app in your Android 9 Pie or Oreo 8.1 using the below-given system settings.
Step 1: Swipe down the notification panel from the top of the screen and tap the Settings gear icon.
Step 2: Tap System.
Step 3: Tap Backup.
Step 4: Tap App data under the active backups section.

Step 4: Toggle off “Back up to Google drive” toggle.
You can see this pop-up message: Turn off and delete backup? It will permanently delete your Google account backup from Google drive in your device. Photos and videos that have already backed up will still be available in Google photos.
Step 5: Tap Turn off & delete.
