Here’s how to turn on and use live caption on Google Pixel 5. You can use captions on Pixel 5 to automatically generate captions in the English language when playing YouTube videos or other videos/movies. Also, enable live captions for phone calls (Phone & Video) in your Pixel 5, 4a 5G, 4 XL, 4, 3a XL, 3a, 3, 3 XL, 2, and 2 XL. To quickly turn live captions on or off, you can use the volume up or down button in Pixels.

Follow below given two methods to enable live caption in Pixel devices running stock Android 11 OS.
How to Turn On Live Captions in Pixels
Step 1: Swipe down the notification panel from the top and tap on the Settings gear icon.
Step 2: Tap on Sound & vibration.
Step 3: Tap on Live Caption.
Step 4: Toggle on the Live Caption button.
Step 5: Open the YouTube video or other video and you can see caption speech on the screen.
You can view the below given live caption settings in your Pixels.
Language: Set English language in your Pixel. Currently only English is available. More languages are coming soon.
Hide profanity: Enable it if you want to replace it with an asterisk (*) symbol.
Show sound labels: It includes sounds like music, applause, and laughter with caption speech.
Live Caption in volume control: Turn on toggle to quickly turn on or turn off live caption using volume up or down button.
Alternative Way: Settings > Accessibility > Live caption under Audio & On-screen text section > Toggle on Live Caption
How to Use Live Captions for Phone Calls on Pixel Phones
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Tap Sound & vibration.
Step 3: Tap Live Caption.
Step 4: Scroll at the end and tap on Caption calls.
Step 5: Choose from Ask every time (Default)/Always/Off.

Settings > Sound & vibration > Live caption > Toggle off live caption
How to Turn On Live Transcribe in Pixel 5
Settings > Accessibility > Live Transcribe > Toggle on Live Transcribe shortcut
Now, just swipe up with 2 fingers from the bottom of the screen. To switch between features, swipe up with 2 fingers and hold.
