What is Smart Storage on a Google Pixel Phone?
Google Pixel’s smart storage feature is helpful in automatically removing photos older than 60 days that you’ve uploaded to your Google photos. Due to this setting, your Pixel device’s photos & videos storage will never be full.

How to Enable and Use Smart Storage on Google Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6
Step 1: Swipe up from the bottom to access the App drawer and tap on the Settings app.
Step 2: Tap on Storage.
Step 3: Tap on Free up space.
Step 4: Tap on Three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen.
Step 5: Tap on Settings.
Step 6: Toggl on Smart storage.
It will permanently delete media backed up to Google Photos on your Pixel devices for 60 days.
Step 7: Tap on OK.
“Smart storage is on” message appears on the screen.
How to Turn Off Smart Storage in Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6
Settings > Storage > Free up space > Three horizontal lines at the top left corner > Settings > Toggle off Smart storage
How to Change Google Photo Upload Size on Pixels (Android 12)
You can change the upload size for photos and videos in your Google Pixels using the below-given settings.
Step 1: Open the Google photos app in your Pixels.
Step 2: Tap the Profile icon at the top right corner.
Step 3: Tap on Photo settings.
Step 4: Tap on Back up and sync.
Step 5: Scroll down at the end and tap on Upload size in the settings section.
Step 6: Choose from Original quality/Storage saver (Slightly reduced quality)/Express (Fastest backup at the lowest resolution).
