Here’s how to change default apps on Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7 devices. By default, apps are set on your Google Pixel, like browser app, messaging app (SMS), home app (Pixel Launcher), Caller ID & spam app, phone app, SMS app, and caller ID & spam app. Also, use the instant apps feature to open links in apps, even if not installed on your Pixel device. An app can verify links to open in the app automatically.

How to Change the Default Apps on Your Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro
Follow the below settings to change your default apps on Google Pixel:
Open your Google Pixel’s app drawer and tap Settings app.
Tap the Apps.
Tap Default apps in the General section.
You can see the default apps list on your Pixel device. Tap the App (Caller ID & Spam App) if you want to change the default application.
Choose an App you want set as the default Pixel app.
Change the Default Browser App in Google Pixel using App Settings: Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro
Open the Settings app.
Tapt the Apps.
Tap any Browser app on your Pixel device.
Scroll and tap the Browser app.
Choose a Browser you want to use as the default Pixel browser app.
Clear Default App Preferences in Google Pixel
You can clear default preferences for system default apps in your Google Pixel devices.
To clear the default app, go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Three vertical dots at the top right > Show system > Tap any System default app > Open by default > Clear default preferences.
How to Reset App Preferences in Google Pixel: Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro
It will reset all preferences for disabling apps, app notifications, background data restriction for apps, battery usage settings, etc.
Go to Settings.
Scroll down and tap the System.
Scroll to the bottom & tap Reset options.
Tap Reset app preferences.
Tap the Reset apps.
