Step 1: Open “Settings” on your android lollipop 5.1.1
Step 2: Tap on “Data usage” Under Quick Settings or Connections section

Step 4: Tap on “Restrict background data” option

Restricting background data usage will stop some apps and services from working unless the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Step 6: To check the background data disable or not, tap the status bar and you can see the above screen on your device. You can see the notification that informs you, you have restricted background data usage on an android phone or tablet.
